John Reardon

Principal

John has received peer recognition for excellence in the practice of law by being named a Massachusetts Super Lawyer® and to the list of Top Attorneys of New England

John's practice focuses on litigation, employment law, professional negligence and healthcare. In addition to his trial practice, John provides training on healthcare-related issues such as informed consent, standards of practice and peer review. John’s clients include healthcare organizations, including the Harvard teaching hospitals, and employers being accused of workplace violations.

In his healthcare practice, John has been representing healthcare professionals for over 25 years. He has represented: physicians in virtually every specialty;  RN's practicing in all clinical settings; PA's; Nurse Practitioner's; therapists; social workers; and techs. He has also done extensive work with issues surrounding  Interns, Residents and Fellows. During this time he has tried an extensive number of cases and has garnered numerous notable jury verdicts for physicians that have been sued for medical negligence. For example, following a two-week jury trial he obtained a defense verdict on behalf of a neurologist who allegedly was negligent in his care and treatment of a woman suffering from migraine headaches. She suffered a ruptured aneurysm and was permanently disabled. In a separate two-week trial, John secured a defense verdict in favor of an obstetrician. The jury determined the physician was not liable for permanent brachial plexus injuries suffered by a newborn. He has also successfully defended physicians in numerous binding arbitrations involving complex issues of causation and multi-day hearings. For example, John secured a ruling of no liability in a case alleging that an obstetrician had mismanaged a patient’s diabetes during her pregnancy leading to the still-birth of her child.

In his distinguished career as a trial lawyer, John has established an impressive track record of successfully defending companies facing complaints of job bias and other employment law violations. He has been counsel in numerous multi-week jury trials involving allegations of discrimination, harassment and retaliation. John has also successfully defended numerous clients before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD) and the EEOC.  Additionally, John has been selected to be a prosecutor as well as a judge in several hearings in which employees are challenging adversarial employment action taken by their employer.

When away from the office, John is an avid sports enthusiast. For many years he was actively involved in the coaching and management of youth athletics. As his three children grew older, he became an ardent supporter of their high school and college athletic teams. He now enjoys playing golf and boating on Narragansett Bay in Rhode Island where he grew up.
