John Reardon obtained a defense verdict on behalf of our client, a cardiologist, following a nearly three-week trial in Suffolk Superior Court. The case involved a patient who suffered a debilitating stroke when taken off anticoagulation medicine in advance of surgery. The plaintiff alleged that the defendant, along with his fellow, negligently cleared the patient for surgery, and that the surgery should have been postponed. John was able to present expert testimony at trial, highlighting the extent of the patient’s illness, and why it was reasonable for the defendant to have believed the surgery was urgent under the circumstances. Following three hours of deliberations, the jury returned a defense verdict for all defendants.
