Bob concentrates his practice in the defense of employers, health care institutions and health care professionals in matters involving employment-related legal issues and professional liability.
Bob has successfully tried multi-week employment related matters before juries at both the State and Federal Court levels, and has also gained successful results for his clients before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Bob has also earned verdicts on his clients’ behalf in numerous matters involving allegations of professional and general liability, both at the State and Federal Court levels, and has argued cases before both the Massachusetts Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Bob routinely handles matters related to credentialing (representing both institutional and individual clients) and other internal, institutional review processes and has represented his clients’ interests on many occasions before the various State Boards of Professional Registration. Bob has also been prominently involved in matters regarding the legal and ethical issues posed by end-of-life medical situations, and has been part of a numerous educational symposia on this topic as well as many other medical-legal issues.
As a regular part of his practice, Bob provides training and other presentations on employment related legal issues. He has also assisted clients in the drafting and review of personnel policies, employment handbooks and their internal compliance procedures. He regularly consults with and advises his clients on day-to-day employment issues.
Prior to joining Hamel, Marcin, Dunn, Reardon & Shea, P.C., Bob was a partner at Melick, Porter & Shea, L.L.P. and Hassan & Reardon, P.C. When away from the office, Bob enjoys spending time with his family and playing golf and tennis.
