Tracy Luvisi – Jury Verdict

December, 2025

Tracy Luvisi, along with the trial team of John Reardon, Teresa Farris, and Madison Welsh, obtained a defense verdict on behalf of our three clients- a nephrologist and two cardiac surgery fellows – in a case involving the post-operative care of a cardiac surgery patient who ultimately required amputations of all of his fingers and toes. The plaintiff alleged that the defendants failed to recommend additional blood transfusions in the setting of a clotting dialysis machine, which led to a cardiac arrest and the resultant amputations. Non-party witnesses involved in the patient’s care testified to the patient’s significant risk factors, the hospital guidelines for blood transfusions, and the roles of the consulting nephrologist and fellows. The defense also presented expert testimony concerning the management of the dialysis machine, establishing that it played no role in causing the patient’s cardiac arrest. After deliberations, a jury of fourteen returned a defense verdict in favor of all defendants.
